Our mission is dedicated to the prevention of intimate partner and domestic violence in America.
As a domestic violence charity we know that escaping abuse can be both essential and liberating, but not without serious perils. It’s complicated. It’s traumatic. It takes courage and requires support. That’s where our mission begins.
American Family Center (AFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding solutions to this serious problem while providing assistance to families finding it difficult to maintain a safe, secure and nurturing family unit.
Our method is to create and produce a high level of impactful (and measurable) public and self-awareness media campaigns that reveal the dynamics of coercion, power and control, and help modify the most prevalent and predictable underlying behaviors and consequences.
At the same time, it is critical to advocate for, maintain and advance programs and funding needed to provide necessary services to those already experiencing the abuses of intimate partner, spousal, child and elder abuse. To this end, we also sponsor programs and activities including:
Brotherhood of Fatherhood
American Family Thrift
Our endeavor is both worthy and in need of ongoing support. We would be honored and privileged if you would consider joining us in this pursuit.
With grateful appreciation,
American Family Center, Inc
Life is all about choices.
What would you do if you could see into the future and understand the ramifications of your choices? Your attitudes? Your behaviors?
Choices is an interactive series of videos which gives you a window into how each choice you make in your family and intimate life plays-out in real life. We do this by presenting a video series that presents situations, and offers 3 or 4 potential responses. Each video then plays-out the ramifications of each response.
Social media platforms make the formation of groups easier than ever. Brotherhood of Fatherhood is a group that educates and encourages dads about the importance of their roles in the home and society in general. It also enables them to share experiences, collaborate, grow and learn “how to dad” in today’s family.
Operation RECONNECT is designed to bolster support for domestic abuse victims and survivors by helping them acquire the necessary technologies needed to reach out for critical support services and stay connected to their worlds such as:
Starting over is never easy and gaining access to the basics makes moving to a new place a little less stressful. Clothing, furniture, lighting, appliances, computers etc., are all available through our American Family Thrift and donations inventory.
Social awareness activities include creating and promoting awareness for several other cause-related campaigns including:
Signal for Help
Angel Shots Assistance
Spousal Abuse and
Elder Abuse campaigns
Our legislative agenda is focused on advocating for funding for domestic violence prevention programs while advancing initiatives that protect the vulnerable while providing comprehensive access to protective, legal, social, medical, housing, childcare and employment services.
Many Hands, Many Faces Sometimes our clients have individual and specialized needs that extend beyond our core services of safely helping to establish a new household. Our Many Hands, Many Faces program offers cause-related sponsorship to partner providers, enabling us to effectively collaborate and more adequately meet those specialized needs.
In Massachusetts, domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another, or against a spouse, child or elder. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, threats, emotional and other forms of intimidation and abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically.
While an individual instance of domestic violence is unacceptable, when you aggregate each instance statewide the statistics in Massachusetts are staggering.
